Foreword Forum

How it works

Your story, chapter by chapter.

Two tracks, one process. Seven chapters take you from a first conversation to a plan you carry forward on your own.

Two tracks

Two tracks, one process.

Foreword Forum has two tracks. Both follow the same seven chapters. What changes is the goal you are writing toward.

  • The readiness track

    First Draft

    For teens and young adults

College and career readiness: applications, essays, financial aid and scholarships, test prep, and a plan for life after graduation, whether that is a four-year school, a two-year school, a trade, or work.

  • The empowerment track

    Speak Volumes

For teens, young adults, and adult men and women

Coaching and mentoring for confidence, communication, and personal and professional goals, led by a certified business coach and certified life coach, with Co-Authors as mentors.

  1. Chapter One

    Intake

Every story starts with the author.

You complete a short intake about your goals, where you are now, and the support around you. It is how we learn your name, your story, and where you want to go.

    Readiness track
Goals, the schools and paths you are considering, your interests, and the support at home.
    Empowerment track
Your goals, your season of life, and what you want to build or change.

    You leave with

    A shared starting point.

  2. Chapter Two

    Assessment

    Read the pages already written.

We look at where you stand today, honestly and with no judgment: your strengths, your next areas to build, and the decisions ahead.

    Readiness track
Grades, testing, activities, applications, financial aid, and upcoming deadlines.
    Empowerment track
Strengths, habits, communication style, and what is standing in the way.

    You leave with

A clear picture of your strengths and your next areas to build.

  3. Chapter Three

    Alignment

Match the plan to the person.

We line up your goals with options that fit who you are and what you want, so the plan is yours and not a template.

    Readiness track
Colleges, majors, trades, careers, and scholarships from every source, not only the schools on your list.
    Empowerment track
Goals matched to your values: a career move, a business idea, more education, or personal growth.

    You leave with

A focused set of options that fit who you are.

  4. Chapter Four

    Strategic planning

    Outline before you write.

Together we build a written plan with dates and a clear owner for every step. Every deadline is on the calendar before it arrives.

    Readiness track
Applications, essays, scholarships, and financial aid deadlines on one calendar.
    Empowerment track
Milestones for the goals you choose, with the first steps set for the weeks ahead.

    You leave with

A written plan with dates and a clear owner for every step.

  5. Chapter Five

    Execution

    One page at a time.

This is where the work gets done, step by step, with support beside you and practice before the moments that count.

    Readiness track
Applications, essays, FAFSA, scholarship submissions, and interview practice, with your Co-Author beside you.
    Empowerment track
Coaching sessions, practice, and accountability as you take each step, with a Co-Author mentor beside you.

    You leave with

Work you are proud of, completed on time.

  6. Chapter Six

    Reporting and tracking

    Keep the story moving.

Progress is tracked, checked, and followed up so nothing slips. You always know where you stand, and the plan adjusts as life does.

    Readiness track
Every application and scholarship followed up until there is a decision, with progress updates for families and award paperwork seen through until the money reaches the college.
    Empowerment track
Regular check-ins on your milestones, with the plan adjusted as your goals grow.

    You leave with

Progress you can see, and follow-up on every step.

  7. Chapter Seven

    To be continued

The pen stays in your hand.

Foreword Forum is the opening of your book, not the whole story. You keep your plan, your tools, and the habits to keep writing, and your Volume stays connected after the program ends.

    Readiness track
Your plan, tracker, and essays are yours to keep. One day, you may return as a Co-Author for the next Volume.
    Empowerment track
Your plan and the habits you built are yours to keep as you set the next goal.

    You leave with

Everything you need to write the next chapter yourself.

Classroom and coaching roots

Built on classroom and coaching practice.

Jessica D. Maine-Jackson is a certified educator, certified in speech and special education, and a former AVID educator and coordinator. AVID is a college readiness system used in schools to help students who have the drive, but not always the roadmap, get to college and succeed once they are there.

She is also a certified business coach, a certified life coach, and a mentor. Every chapter of Foreword Forum carries the habits she taught, coordinated, and coached: writing to think, asking strong questions, learning together, staying organized, reading closely, and meeting each person where they are.

  • Writing to think

Participants write early and often: reflections, plans, essays, and resumes. Writing is how a plan becomes clear, and how a person learns to tell their own story.

    Shows up in: Intake, Execution

  • Asking strong questions

Participants learn to ask the questions that move them forward, of themselves, of colleges and employers, of scholarship committees, and of their mentors.

    Shows up in: Assessment, Alignment

  • Learning together

Volumes are small groups. Participants work through problems with peers, Co-Authors, and coaches, so no one figures it out alone.

Shows up in: Execution, To be continued

  • Staying organized

Calendars, checklists, trackers, and one folder for every document. Organization turns a long process into steps a person can manage week by week.

Shows up in: Strategic planning, Reporting and tracking

  • Reading closely

Applications, aid offers, contracts, and scholarship rules reward careful readers. Participants learn to read the fine print and find what matters.

    Shows up in: Alignment, Execution

  • Meeting each person where they are

With certification in speech and special education, Jessica plans for different learning styles, paces, and needs. Instruction, materials, and practice are adjusted so every student and adult can take part fully.

Shows up in: Assessment, Strategic planning, Execution
